Reset ECU???

How do you reset the ECU? I went to the FAQ and it says:

"You will find instructions to do a Diagnostic Trouble Code readout and reset the Check Engine light at:
http://vbxmaxima.8m.com/ecu.html " but when you go to the link it says it has passed its bandwidth and I'll have to wait until 2-01-02 for it to be back up. I know where the ecu is and how to adjust it, but how do you reset it?

I did this when I got a check engine light a while back, but does that process actually reset the whole ECU, cuz I thought it just resets the check engine light?

both, resets ecu thus resetting CEL. disconnecting battery will NOT work on a 97, I tried. I can't speak for any other year, but from what I have read it does not work.. BTW why should it?

I'm a little unclear about these directions.

Remove the interior kick panel inn the driver side foot well, beside the gas pedal. Insert a flathead screwdriver into a slot on the ECU, and turn the screwdriver slowly and softly clockwise till you hit the stop, then counterclockwise until you hit another stop, then turn clockwise until you hit the stop. Remove the screwdriver, but how do you turn it back left if the screwdriver isn't in the slot?

Thanks for the help.

Thanks, I couldnt remember if it was left first or right first. I played with it before to see why the check engine light was on, due to my PR CAI. Thanks again for the info.

I am. I bought my new Jeep 2 weeks after I got an oil change in the maxima and the shop left a tool in the drivers side track of the hood and shut it. Nice big dent in it. Needless to say they paid to have it fixed but I just got it back last week. When I did the PR CAI it put the check engine light on and I now have the stock intake back in it and the problem is fixed except the CE light is still on. I just need to reset it and sell the car.
