Rubber stopper for throttle- does it allow WOT

I was vacuuming my car when I noticed the rubber stopper plate behind the gas peddle. Does it prevent the throttle from fully opening? So, when the throttle is fully depressed the TB synchronized to be fully open? Anyone ever remove it to see what happens.

#1 it doesn't prevent you from going WOT
#2 don't remove it.. it will f'ck up your car and eventually break your throttle cable

I removed mine a long time ago and have had no problems. I dont see how it could mess up the cable. It only allows you to put the pedal an inch or two closer to the floor

Why would you do this?

SNAP

Heheh, it's a safety mod ... your car will go into limp mode to protect the engine from high revs due to the lead foot abuse, should the rev limiter fail.

If you do this, you may move the throttle butterfly past WOT. Once it goes past 90 degrees open...its is starting to close again...this is bad.

Ok so does your car go faster now when at WOT? and what mzmtg said about the butterfly moving past 90 degrees open and starting to close again also makes sense.

How to fix Rubber Stopper

I was racing with another Maxima not too long ago and the rubber stopper broke and came off. Now I notice a really annoying 1/4" of play on the accelerator before the throttle actually opens/cable tightens. I have put it back in place several times. It has finally been chewed to hell from wear and tear and no longer stays in place. I cannot tighten the cable any more to compensate the missing stopper. How is this rubber stopper installed ? Can this be substituted with another type of rubber washer ? Thanks.

IDEA:
Why doesn't somebody take off their intake piping, turn the car on but don't start it. Depress the accellerator to the floor and see how far the stepper motor opens the butterfly. Do this with the stopper on and off and post the results.

Your fellow org members await the findings..........

I forgot to mention that the old chewed up stopper had a rip in one side so I was able to put it back in place until the rip kept getting bigger and biger until it could no longer stay in place. Still looking for answers to questions in my previous post. Would I have to remove the throttle cable from the accelerator side in order to insert a new rubber stopper ? Thanks.

Re: How to fix Rubber Stopper

The throttle butterfly will not move farther 90 degrees, not even +1 degree
