GOOD GAS and MUFFLERS
first off, what gas station would you recommend...being that the same gas stations aren't everywhere, there have to be a few which are like Exxon and probably Texaco? Well, better question, what's the best gas for Maxima's, Plus or Super cause I know Regular isn't...and how much should we be paying per gallon to consider the gas NOT CHEAP?
I'm looking for that piece u put on the muffler that makes the purr sound, u know, the one that u can hear down the block...does that increase horse power? And what types are best for Maxima's...also i'm not looking for loudest, just good purrs....
i know u guys can help me

As for the second part of your question, it really isn't pertinent to this thread. Start another thread and ask that question.

The common octane rating for gasoline is usually clearly marked on the gasoline pump. The 'regular' is usually 85-87 Oct., the super is usually 89 and the 'premium' is usually 91-93 octane. Any number over 91 is unnecessary, but in some places, the only choices are 87,89 and 93. Our engine can ACCEPT 87, but for better milage/performance 91+ is recommended.

meccanoble ... please don't post in the 4th gen FAQ thread unless you have an answer.
It's not a thread to ask questions in ... it's a thread to provide answers to frequently ask questions. If you see something in there that you want to ask about, please start a new thread.

It is a Federal Law that the octane ratings must be posted ON the pumps.
So just look for the big black numbers with the yellow background on the pumps. It's a 4"x4" sticker.

Not all gas stations are created equal! In my experience, the same 89 octane gas from Texaco or Chevron will make me accelerate faster and get better mileage than the 89 octane from 7-11 or AMPM. I have a friend with a really bad gas guzzler who claims that a full tank from Chevron gas lasts her almost twice as long as a full tank from AMPM, don't know if she was exaggerating though.
