Help Please!!! Fuel injector

I took my car into the shop because one of the cylinders was missing, and they said it would be $530 to replace one injector but reccommended that I replace all of them for $1400! Is this necessary, nad are these prices in the ballpark of what I should pay? 1400 is a lot of money!
Please help soon, I've gotta tell them what to do!
Thanks, Chris

Injectors do not commonly fail. Tell them to replace the dead one, and clean the others.

is 530 dollars too much? i have been searchinga and it seems that it should be more like 300 dollars, depending on which back the injector is in.

Including labor, that sounds about right.

If it is going to be underneath the intake manifold...your looking at a good 3-5 hour job I would say. Especially if they don't work on Maxima's much. So, you have put that in the figure because labor is like 60 bucks an hour. But if the injector went you might want to consider all of them while it is open with bigger injectors if your planning on modifying your car at all. Because you don't want to decided on getting bigger injectors later and have to pay the 3-5 hours of labor!!!

Just my 2 cents

P.S. It's always cheaper to do it yourself, and normally isn't that difficult to do it is just getting under the hood starting!!!

Having a Civic right now would be SO much easier. They sit out in the open.

heh, thanks for the help. called around and no one thought they could do it significantly cheaper, so i told the dealership to go for it. i would consider the bigger injectors but unfortunately I HAVE NO MONEY! Parents are floating me about 200 bucks now so I'm lucky to come out of this with a car that works right (specially one as cool as a max) and my car is fast enough till i get a 350Z when i graduate. no mods for me

60 dollars per hour for labor, is that all! The dam dealers up in the upper northeast corridor what upwards of $80.00 an hour for labor, what a bunch of milk men!!! Shop around, and like the other members stated don't let them repair/replace what aint broke, only what is! Good luck

BG 44K Fuel Additive

To clean your injectors, try using BG 44K fuel additive. This stuff works wonders. If your injectors were just clogged, I would have tried this first then changed the injector (may have saved you some $$$). It cost about $20/can, you can find it at shops and dealerships.
