anybody have their stock resonator removed

i dont want to get the cat back rather have the torque that a few horse , also i want a little deeper and meaner noise. Above all i dont want to pay however much money for a new b pipe thats the same size as mine already. muffler is already planned for next week. can you just weld a straight pipe in there?

Yes but you won't notice much change in noise level.

If I'm understanding your question I would reccomend you just go ahead and get the b pipe. For one, the rest of your exhaust is new, and two, by the time you've made the necessary cuts and welds you probably coulda saved some time and aggravation and maybe even some money by buying the new b pipe. The new b pipe is also mandrel bent unlike the stock unit. Just my .02. You've all ready got a better exhaust set up than I do so what do I know .What is your complete set up? I thought most people kept the stock muffler since there are minimal gains achieved w/ aftermarket mufflers.

not much of anything huh?

because i assume no real hp gains either. but if it can be done for like 20-30 bucks and adds 2-3 hp, id do that, bc what does catback do, like 5 hp?

really not much sound at all, even with y pipe and muffler?

If you remove the cat. If he just removes the resonator it won't change much.

what is exactly a straight pipe

is that just a pipe with no muffler? would a straight through design be roughly the same? also i am not doing the muffler for perf. gains, only looks and sound.

cat is taken care of

so would removing the resonator change the sound quite a bit?

No. I replaced my muffler and left the resonator. Had it like that for awhile then decided to remove it and it made no difference at all.

Straight pipes is essentially no cat, no resonator and no muffler = LOUD

aight...i have the stillen muffler and removed the resonator and put a pipe instead of it...the "bees in a can" noise is great mainly cause i have the 1st gen warpspeed y-pipes...also...something is hitting like crazy and i still haven't had time to look at it yet...my muffler also sticks out like 3-4 inches...so i know something is wrong...haven't noticed any power gain...but the muffler drones at higher rpm's

You probably wont hear the difference over your new muffler. Or, if you do, it will be minimal.
Straight pipe is any pipe free of bends and obstructions. I think

This might help explain the function of a resonator. Or at least better than I can.

A resonator is just an extra muffler to absorb more sound. Older resonators used to look just like regular mufflers except smaller. You can use any muffler (like a glasspack) that will fit in the B-pipe space as a resonator, but usually they're tubular and can be straight-through or baffled design. So the "resonator" is just referring to the muffler in the B-pipe. The bigger it is, the more sound it soaks up.

The resonator is just another muffler. Contact Warpspeed. They are making a pipe that removes the resonator and the crimp bend on the stock B-pipe. It's a straight weld in piece. I believe the price will be around $50.
