Starting issue, HELP!

Hello guys,

I'm here seeking help on the starting issue on my 4th Gen 98' maxima.

My ignition switch was bad. I bought a new one and during reinstall, the screwdriver tapped the wire on the back. There was a spark and pop and now I can't start the car. No crank, no start.

I was able to start from the actual starter under the hood. I bought another switch. How do I figure out what exactly is the culprit at this point.

HELPPPPP!

Start checking all fuses....

I can never understand why people do electrical work with the battery still hooked up.

Shoot, whether I do mechanical work or electrical work, I always disconnect both terminals at the battery.

What makes you think it's a wire? Whatever wire you think is bad, check it for continuity. Jump on Youtube and search for "How to check continuity". It's very simply.

It still could be a fuse, fuseable link, relay etc

Did you check the fuses under the hood? there is a 30 amp fuse that sends power to the ignition switch and then on to the starter. These fuses are by the battery, next tot the fender. Check fuse H, a green square fuse that the cover calls IGN SW.
