alt battery light help.

hi all when alt went out so i replaced it. Now i get a flickering battery light but some times it stays on. Battery is barely a year old. When the battery light comes on the brake light also comes on.

I have checked all the fuses and fuse links.

I have the battery on a slow charge for now.

Has anyone had any first hand experience with this problem.

Yes, we have lots of experience with rebuilt alternators.

You have a bad one. Take it back and get it replaced.

Sad but true.

Agreed ...

Alternator Trouble Lamp + Battery Trouble Lamp = Failed/failing alternator (typically).

Don't suppose you've done any diagnostics on the alternator?

I realize the attraction of remanufactured parts and I've purchased my share.

However, if this is an option you chose, I'd recommend purchasing units that include a LLT warranty and purchase them from a local parts store.

I agree - I always get alternators and starters from a local store - just in case...

AutoZone DLG13284 is what I'm running now, no problems (at least not like the Bravo MF Sierra problems described in that thread omg)

You might also consider that your charge cable and/or your ground may be failed/failing.

A voltage drop test might be in order as well.

Hey Ham!

How you been? I hope all is well!

Alternators top voltage output is never to exceed 14.2 volts, so that alternator definitely has a problem, and will only get worse. Maybe even stress the battery.

Nothin like some good fried battery with hot sauce! LOL Better than a Philly Cheesesteak.

Good luck with the swap and let's hope they give you one that's right and won't go sideways prematurely!
