Junkyard HID Foglights

Well, all I ever see are 5.5th Gen Maxima's coming to the boneyard...So I decided I wanted to use the Japanese OEM ballast and igniters for a fog light system...I removed all the unnecessary wiring, kept the plastic holding bracket, drilled holes and installed 10-32 riv-nuts and mounted behind the OEM fog lights...Man they came out nice, I used spare 8000K Xtralight H3 bulbs and the output along with the HID headlights look great....Those OEM ballast in the 2002-03 Maxima(s) are hefty Heavy units (35W) and inexpensive!!!!...Good luck.

Sorry but I don't know how to upload pics anymore with Photobucket wanting money now....I don't know why I would have to lie about something so small...It was too just show what's possible for low money and a little bit of ingenuity. What's another method to load pictures maybe FB?

I was never aware that attachments could be used on forums...I'll get the pictures for the nonbelievers...this same thing went down when everyone said a 6" round resonator couldn't fit the 5th Gen...(The Carltonator);Early 5th Gen, 6 poke SE rims wouldn't fit over the 6th Gen Front brake upgrade on a 5th Gen chassis (another lie); Now these foglights converted from 5.5th Gen Headlights...Give me a day or two I'll have pictures for the nonbelievers...Thanks for letting me know I can load them off my computer with attachments I again wasn't aware of this working through attachments.

I've done this for a few years now with adapters. Definitely nice and have less issues and anything aftermarket.

Just be sure to mount the ballasts/igniters up as they are not exactly waterproof.

I have down under the battery tray (driver's side) and next to the windshield washer reservoir (pass. side)...Just installed new H-3 6000k HID bulbs and making it look like daytime when back in the Texas hill country. There's so many deer out here I had to go with HID ASAP. I scrapped a big buck one coming from Cuero, Tx. He slid to miss me, I swerved to miss him, and he hit my Hardbody's mirror and his antlers scrape down the side of my truck... No one got hurt he ran away and I rolled away needing HID headlights for the 3rd Gen, 4th Gen and Hardbody....
