Questions on 00vi swap.

1996 maxima. CAI, no cat, magnaflow muffler. Just got the car recently so I’ve already gave it a full tune up. Looking for more power without boosting. That being said I’ve been reading about the 00vi swap and what I read, it involves a good amount of fabrication? I was wondering since from what I read most of the fab work done is on the LIM, why not just use the 00 LIM and valve covers to fit with the 00 UIM? Or does it not fit? I’m sorry if it’s a dumb question this is the first Nissan I’ve worked around. Also it’s my daily for work so kinda don’t want it to be out of commission for a while but I do have a 2016 Civic if it’s necessary.

Also with it basically being stock how much power gains would I see if any?

thanks for your time!

5th gen injectors are bigger therefore tuning is needed. Using the 4th gen injectors means less of a need for tuning. Unfortunately they are not the same style injector and swapping them around means using the LIM and fuel rail.

The factory rated the DEK engine 32-37 hp more. The consensus says the intake plenum is where all the power is. It breathes much better than the DE. Far more area under the curve.

I did mine without buying anything special. I used off the shelf parts from the hardware store and auto parts stores. I'll dig up my thread.

Depends on if you go to the local junkyard and source these parts yourself, or buy here from someone here on the Org. Could be anywhere from $100 to $300.

Check your local classifieds. You can get the parts dirt cheap or free if you look.

For instance, there's an I30 that was used for demo derby near me on CL. $100 for the car. Take parts off and scrap the rest. You can make your money back in junk metal.
