Any issues going from 15" to 16" AL SE WHEELS?

Hi guys, are there any issues going from stock 15" AL wheels to stock type 16" AL wheels on my 98 (not SE) Maxima (has 55k original miles!) with auto trans?

I would expect the speedo to read a bit slower due to slightly diff height tires tire but was wondering if there would be any other issues i am not aware of with trans/ecu/emissions etc that are calibrated for 15" tires now getting 16" tires?

Checked tire height diff between the the diff size tries used on the stock type 1998 nissan maxima AL 15" & 16" wheels and depending on tire mfg & type tire there is an approx .2-.3" diff in size on avg between them and would not think that small .2-.3" diff in size/height would upset anything too much but don't know for sure.

AH,just realized i would have to get a 16" spare too!

Thanks...Scott

16" rims use a lower profile sidewall to get as close as possible to the same diameter and circumference as a 15" rim with taller tires for the OEM target overall size.

You don't seed to swap out the spare unless you plan on changing the tire when you get a flat and then just leaving it. But I prefer to have both tires on the same axle be worn equally.
P215/55R16 is that size for the appropriate maxima 16" rim. Make sure the offset on the rims is correct as well.

I have a 96 SE. It came with 15 inch sawblade wheels.

once the tires I had installed had worn out, I noticed an ad on Craigslist. Someone had just installed brand new tires on his 97. It had 16 inch wheels.
the price was 150 dollars for 4 wheels with brand new tires. Score. So I bought them and installed the same day. The outside diameter is the same, no speedo error. The car handles better, but the ride is rougher.

Thanks for the reply & info.
I am also going from the stock type 15" " sawblade " looking 15" wheels to the 16" SE type AL wheels that were stock on 98 Maxima SE's on my 98 Max because i really like the look of them but am not looking forward to the bit more jittery/rough ride the lower profile 16" tires cause due to shorter sidewall.

Happy Motoring!

if you were going from a 15 to an 18 i could see the concern. 15 to a 16? i went from a 15 to a 17 inch and never had an issue like 10 years ago, sure, the wheels were small and lighter and the car was a tad faster. never really noticed any difference other than that.

No concern whatsoever. I went from 16 to 18, to 18, then back to 16, then to the junkyard....
