Exhaust System -- 1999 SE -

1999 Maxima SE Fed Spec - Manufacture Data 11/98.

Ordered the following items:

Walker 16033 Ultra Import Cat from Amazon $138 + Tax - Prime Shipping

Walker Exhaust KIT KIT3506712 from Rock Auto $ 326.79 + Tax and Shipping

Warpspeed Y-Pipe $275

I'm running the Walker KIT and Warpspeed on the 98. I've been happy with Walker products so I'm looking to replicate this system on the 99 model.

So for roughly $800 the 99 gets a new end-to-end Exhaust system.

Are you going to do it yourself in the driveway? You glutton for punishment!

Since the engine is from a 95, does that change anything?

My 99 Cali spec in NY (CARB Compliant ONLY) is a nightmare.

Got to do it in the driveway.. Might do the y-pipe and cat this weekend. The flex pipe is leaking -- so that that one is more urgent. I'll do the rest of the system in cooler weather. I'm correcting some issues caused by "another party" between the cat and the y-pipe when the 99 when it was away at school.. The 98 wasn't bad as I recall. I split it up into two jobs on different weekends. I'll get the old y-pipe fixed and keep it in reserve.

Can't you get a new flex pipe welded in place? (Muffler specialty shop)?

I doubt it will make a good seal on the top side. Specialty muffler shops around here have gone the way of car hops on roller skates

Exhaust work never seems to go smoothly for me. I told my father to take his 07 to a reputable local exhaust shop to fix a leaky flex. It was $500 to replace both flex pipes and repair the inlet on the cat. All stainless steel parts used btw.

Why not go with a larger exhaust system? Like the $125 MES (trubenz) 2.5" tubing kit and buy Magnaflow mufflers (22" x 4" x 2.5" resonator, and a 11"x 5"x 22" muffler assy)? Didn't want to take that extra step? Hell you're going with a Warpspeed Ypipe....

I've been running the Walker/Warpspeed combo on the 98 model. I'm happy with it. Quiet and responsive. The exhaust on the 99 larger than stock, glass pack and some kind of turbo muffler. I don't like the noise and the neighbors complain..

My 2.5" MES it's not loud either but I run the largest mufflers that I can fit at the Rear (Magnaflow p/n:12576, 11" x 5" x 22") and as the resonator (Magnaflow p/n:10426, 4" x 18") it's deep in tone and virtually drone free...when cruising at highway speeds!
