Can anyone tell me what part this is?

While replacing my TPS I noticed a ...thing.. which looks like it's supposed to be mounted to something but it just flopping around under my hood, and it has two electrical contacts each with a matching plug but only one is actually attached, and the blade that has nothing attached is corroded like it hasn't been attached in years. Plus it has a vacuum hose.

that is not a Nissan part. Someone, probably a previous owner, did some custom work. It appears to be a vacuum line. Trace the hose that is behind the master cylinder and see what it attaches to and report back.

It's a pressure switch. They are used to operate an electronic device at a set amount of pressure. For instance, I have one on my turbo Sentra for water alcohol injection.

That's what I was thinking. In an hour I will go see where the vacuum tube is attached, and where the cord leads to (you can't see the cord in the photo, but the two wires goes to an indoor extension cord-looking black cord.

Well that wasn't terribly informative.

The hose goes to this t-connector

Which connects to the hose which goes into here

The electrical cable just goes into the firewall (thicker one here)

I tried to look under the dash, the only thing that stood out is this thing with multiple wires and plugs which is just hanging there, bottom left, not sure if that is a factory part.

The blue thing is plugged into the OBD port is Veepeak OBDCheck VP11 ( http://www.veepeak.com/product/obdcheck-vp11/ ). It monitors the engine's performance and sends the info to a bluetooth app on your phone like Torque, OBD Fusion, DashCommand, etc. You can read and clear diagnostic trouble codes, reset Check Engine Light, etc.

I don't know what the thing hanging to the left of the blue Veepeak thing is. I assume that the wires from the vacuum switch under the hood go to it. Look for a name on it and google it.

Yeah the Veepeak is mine, so glad I spent $20 to never have to use a screwdriver to read codes again!
On the weekend I'll see if I can stick my head way in there and identify the cord on the other side of the firewall.

No idea. I did remove the pressure switch and just have the various hoses connected directly to the various spots. One thing I remembered is when I bought the car it came with a remote starter that the owner said didn't work, so I'm curious if that switch and/or the weird wiring are related. I've got a few more items on my 'bringing the Maxima back from the dead' fix list and re-investigating the wiring is one of the last ones. Ask me again in 6 months
