EGR valve, probably clogged up huh? Also is that your man cave? lol hows your maxi doing? I still got my misfire/fuel smell issue.. Haven't had a chance to go back to it. Needed a break from it out of frustration.

that's my tiny office, so no clean up happening anytime soon. it is a spacer tube for the back of the vq that my idiot mechanic broke when muscling through the motor taking off the intake manifold. he says it had a hole, but it was intact mostly before hand. there will be an argument over labor cost to replace this for that reason.

A year or two ago, mine perf'd from corrosion and it was LOUD!. Brought it to a dealer to see what they said. They told me new exhaust manifolds and whatever else it needs would be well over $2K. Maybe I could find an exhaust shop that could help me out.

Brought it to another guy I used for big jobs and he stuck a rag in the exhaust pipe and it suddenly went quiet. He said I didn't have any problems with my exhaust manifolds and it was most likely that riser tube. Sure enough, it was.

So I paid the dealer for an oil change and RAN! Thieves!

Stupid design and I bet it yields no real world positive benefits. Only on paper.

And you need more nude babe posters in the "Cave". LOL

The most notable (and perhaps the only) positive is the elimination of the CEL.

here's the thing, i have smoke coming from the exhaust and that tube being broken has thrown a p0505 and a p0110 which are both NEW!! that tube isn't expensive and i want the max to run right again so i'm putting a new one on to get her back to normal. i have an aftermarket exhaust and already don't pass emissions as it is. so, i'm putting the replacement tube back on.

i fail to see how that's going to fix the way the max is running right now. i'd probably throw more codes deleting the egr tube and blocking it off. just want her to run right again.

Notwithstanding your current issues and frustrations, I’ve always found that maintaining all automotive systems in the OE configuration, or close thereto, results in a much more reliable and efficient vehicle.

Keeping your OE EGR system in top shape is the right decision.

... clean your room !!

I wonder how long (or in miles) does it takes for the tube to become clogged? I cleaned all of mine after I bought them. But the 99 model SE is the oldest in the bunch with about 5 years and 50,000 miles..
