Push button starter

Has anyone installed a push button starter in a 5sp max? I'd rather not pay 100 or so for a couple of $3 dollar buttons/switches. How hard is it to get at the Ig wires. Also, does anyone know if the ACC wire is hot when the Ig in the ON position? How about the start position?
Thanks

These should help you...

http://tiiite.b16a.com/Specs/S2KDiagram.jpg
and
http://www.miata.net/garage/pushstart/

The first is install instructions for an 88-91 Civic/CRX and the second is for a Miata. The best switch to get is a Honda S2000 starter button. It's only like $45-50 and that is what it is made to do.

The Honda S2000 starter button is made to close a circuit. This is better than any other button that closes a circuit because?

In any case, I have to call RICE here.

If someone wants to steal my car, the starter button ain't gonna matter a bit, if anything it will confuse someone looking for the wires under the ignition. Maybe I'll just go spend some money on one of those great new alarms that will allow me to claim the car was worth more on my insurance when it gets stolen.

Exactly the problem. So what does the S2000 do for security?

Haha good one, push button starters are no less secure than using the key since you still need the key in the ignition.

Oh so on the s2000 you still put the key in? Thats lame then. I mean it is just as easy to turn the key as it is to push the button.

Re: Push button starter

Just thought I'd toss in that dealers on ebay sell these for maximas. If you're interested, you'll probably get the best deal on bidders paradise. Personally I'm not in favor the mod, just seems like we get lazier and lazier each day hehe...and i wouldnt be impressed or feel secure with a push button. anyways best of luck with whatever you do...they dont make these for women do they? now that'd be a nice mod. jk Peace
