noise from steering (Please Help)

I have a 95 GLE with around 80,000 miles. Its makes a popping noise from the steering that you can hear real good while sitting still. I have already had the cv joints changed too. It makes a funny noise too, when I go over speed bumps. Well if any body can help me, please do so. Also I'm looking at changing the exhaust. I want the increased HP but not a drastic change in sound. If any body has any suggestions let me know.

If you can sit in one spot with motor running and turn the wheel, and this "popping" sound happens.
It might be your strut bearing.

Mine does it also. When I am sitting still and turn my wheels it pops the whole time. And ,if I turn the wheels while driving(like in a circle) It pops then too. But , I have a friend who had a 95 pathfinder that did the exact same thing. Maybe its a nissan thing?

check your stabilizer link bushings and or any other front-end components. Should they look old/worn replace them.
