Y-Pipe for 1999 SE

I'm interested in performance gains for my 4th gen. I understand that a Y-pipe exhaust upgrade could help with a few more ponies. Does anyone have any recent experience upgrading their 4th gen's exhaust? What parts did you use? eBay? Another source? A newbie looking for information from the vast knowledge on this forum. Thanks!

Magnaflow makes a good Y-pipe for this car. They even make that is California-legal if needed.

NOPE! NOT for a Cali Spec 99. Maybe a Fed spec 99, but I'm not sure any fed spec 99s were made.

How do I know? I ordered it and then returned it. It did not fit my 99 Cali Spec SE-L. Stainless steel is NICE and it was 2.5", so if get a 2.5" rear catalytic converter and the rest of the exhaust is 2.5", some HP gain can be expected.

Is the 99 Cali spec physically the same as the 2000 (5th gen)?

If so, you can use the Magnaflow for the 2000 Cali-spec part #452405

i did NOT lookup or confirm P/Ns, but this snip from the Warpspeed website appears to confirm the interchangeability of the ‘99 and the ‘00.

The 1999 Maxima Cali Spec has an exhaust manifold (radiator side) that has a much bigger outlet that wouldn't fit in the usual 3 bolt flange like the firewall bank. The pre-cat does the reducing to fit. Not sure what the answer would be whether a different exhaust manifold or an empty pre-cat.

As far as the pictures of 99 to 01 Y-Pipes. That's 4/99 and after, not before 3/99. Different length and setup altogether.
