Hi all, working on replacing the fuel injector, took off the intake manifold and removed the injectors. All goes well and going to send out the injector to Injectorrx for rebuild. His morning after the car sit overnight. I noticed the car is dripping gasoline. Open the hood and notice the paper tower that I stuff in the cylinder intake and injectors are mostly dripping wet. Most of the cylinder hole are all flood with gasoline. Took the siphon pump the gas out, and replace all gasoline soaked paper towers with dry one, the the injector paper seems to get wet within a couple of minutes. Are the intake and injector hole supposed to flood at all? It doesn’t make much sense. Anyway, it might take more than a week for the injectors coming back. I am not sure how to stop the overflow gas in the mean time. Any advice?

The instructions say to depressurize the system first.

You should have removed the fuel pump fuse, then ran the engine till it stalled.

no harm done. Be careful around gasoline fumes.

 

I did. I guess I might not cranked enough after the fuse removed. (I only cranked about 10-15 seconds after removing the fuse)..

 

the engine was supposed to start, then run on residual gas in the system .

again, no harm done. The gasoline will evaporate.

We used to have carburetors in the old days. They held 1/2 cup or more of gasoline. That spilled out when the carb was removed . We intentionally turned it upside down do the gas would pour out onto the pavement.

 

That looks like a good time to do the valve cover gasket if it hasn't been done already, as well as EGR cleaning.

My car did the same thing when I removed the fuse to change my fuel filter. It just cranked. I guess in some cases it won’t always start, idle, then stall.

 

Remove your gas cap and with care and caution, remove either the inflow or outflow fuel line from the fuel filter.

I’d also say, in lieu of the fuel filter lone(s) ... and again using care ... remove the fuel line from FPR but that one can be quite difficult to get to depending on the level of disassembly in your e-compartment.
