In practice though, you'd have to use like a gallon of oil on the filter to even do anything to the MAF. This is what I have been told by several people, and the theory is sound, but in reality, the amount of oil used on the K&N isn't nearly enough to cause any problems.

thats what i wanted to hear, im sticking with my k&n, if they did have problems it would be on every board on the net, and they have a good reputation and i am yet to hear of any serious problems myself

"Anthony, you received the new Monster filter. It is very popular and many people are removing their K&N filters to add this one. the Monster filter is 100 times better then the K&N. It costs $50 more then the K&N and flows much better. The K&N is oiled which tends to leak oil into the engine causing damage.

i concur ... how n the hell is the oil goin to leak into the fliter n cause engine damage...there should be some kind of recall on this ?
if u dont oil ur filter ur gonna suck in pure dirt n ish into ur engine... monster fliter is very popular??..... K & N has been around longer..then i dont know ... i neva heard of monster fliter..but i am willin to explore new mods ....
hmm email me some info on this new fliter...and ill do test runs with both filters ....

i thought the same. the only way problems will happen is if you dropped ur filter into a bucket of oil, and slapped it on.
