In theory, keep in mind this is all theory. The oil may coat the MAF, and cause it to give bad readings, and be damaged. In practice though, you'd have to use like a gallon of oil on the filter to even do anything to the MAF. This is what I have been told by several people, and the theory is sound, but in reality, the amount of oil used on the K&N isn't nearly enough to cause any problems.

"Anthony, you received the new Monster filter. It is very popular and many people are removing their K&N filters to add this one. the Monster filter is 100 times better then the K&N. It costs $50 more then the K&N and flows much better. The K&N is oiled which tends to leak oil into the engine causing damage.
i concur ... how n the hell is the oil goin to leak into the fliter n cause engine damage...there should be some kind of recall on this ?
if u dont oil ur filter ur gonna suck in pure dirt n ish into ur engine... monster fliter is very popular??..... K & N has been around longer..then i dont know ... i neva heard of monster fliter..but i am willin to explore new mods ....
hmm email me some info on this new fliter...and ill do test runs with both filters ....
