I have a 95 maxima se 5spd non abs. From what I learned in the 5th gen forum, manual axles seem to fair better when they come with the dampeners,the rubber circle thing about halfway up the axle. My question to this forum is are axles with the dampeners necessary on 4rh gen manuals? I know they help with drivetrain vibration. Cardone seems to offer the driver side with one but I can't find a passenger side with one. Also are cadones the leading recommended axle these days? Or is. There any other recommendations. Thanks.

 

Not necessary.. it depends on how they’re balanced.

I’ve used Duralast axles in the past for easy warranty replacement.

 

When I did my axle on '97 because the boot was open for who knows how long, I used eBay and ordered a low mile (80k) OEM used one from LKQ PickYourPart on eBay. LKQ puts a lot of their junkyard parts pulls on eBay. You can find the parts just by searching for the part name and the car and add LKQ.

Although I realize this doesn't help much for a 5spd manual tranny, just saying it for informational purposes really.

 

Surtrack are made by the same factory in China as New Cardone Select and a few other premium brands with the best warranties (If Chinese anything can be premium).

I have the surtrack unit for the longer length axle side and I do get minor vibrations when accelerating moderately below 25mph. My car is lowered a bit so that may be the cause. The factory units would have no vibrations though before I replaced them.

I have $100 in rebate money and need axles. They're about $200 + tax with Autozone for the non-LSD auto which is what I need.
