Are the Duralast Loaded Strut assemblies any good? Any one have any experience with them? Need them to last 4 - 5 years on the 1999 Maxima till the youngest is out of college. He is a Junior right now.

All 4 corners are toast and he loves the car (so do I). Need a lot of maintenance done. Struts/Shocks are one of them.

I’d have some confidence that these wouldn’t be a waste of $$ in that, (1) they come with a LLT and (2) it’s my understanding that the Duralast struts and strut assemblies are re-badged Gabriel products, which I can attest to.

 

Thank you. I had read that these are rebadged Gabriel products but had no idea how to ascertain that. Since you can attest to that, I am golden. I will just put in an order tonight. Have to do a ship to home order to get the 20% off.

 

I replaced all 4 with those durolasts and they are holding up ok after a year now. I got them on sale for super cheap and because they have lifetime warranty (IIRC). I don't have a stock maxima to compare them with, but they feel not as comfortable riding as I hoped, but like I said, I don't have anything to compare them with.

 

Hope you are planning on doing the install yourself and save yourself some cash. Its pretty straight forward and requires a few hours from your day. The only thing that will be rough will be the rear struts. Removing that carpet from the trunk area was a PITA.

Since you are preparing for 4-5 years, expect to replace the fuel injectors/ packs / spark plugs eventually. There is a lot of useful information here that will let you DIY.

 

Yes.. DIY is the plan. May need to get someone else to do LCAs and Axles but the shocks I will DIY and I have done coils and plugs already. I think the injectors are fine for now but I see that we will have to replace them eventually.

She has 169K on the clock. We're the only owners of it. We bought it brand new in Jan 1999
