I have a 1998 Nissan Maxima starts fine idles fine but if I give it gas or put it into drive it dies there's also a tick/ clicking noise coming from the pulley side of the motor but it's been doing that for about 6 to 9 months I was driving regularly and other than the tick/ clicking noise I didn't really have any issues except very quiet backfire occasionally oh yeah I put a new (MAS), and fuel pressure regulator and cleaned the throttle body and (IAC) valve recently and the plugs are only about 4 months old. If anyone can help I'd really appreciate it thanks

 

I suspect it's your MAF. Did you install OEM or aftermarket?

I’d also suggest replacement of the cam position sensor and both crank position sensors.

 

how long have you been runnin' with an aftermarket MAF? And did it run perfectly fine for a bit?

 

It was around the middle of March and yeah it ran great until April 21 I drove it to work and home and as far as I know there was no problems and Monday when I was trying leave for work it started just fine it was idling normal I put into drive and it died I started it up again it did the same thing started it again gave it some gas and it died again then I called for a ride to work
