If you're certain all fuses are good on the dash, I think the next step would be to remove the headunit and see if there's a fuse on the back of the unit itself and checking if it's blown. If it isnt, you would need to get a DVOM and check the radio wiring harness connector to make sure it's getting power/ground etc. If the connector has power and ground as it should, the headunit is likely dead and you would need a replacement or go aftermarket

It’s hard to believe it’s an actual dead headunit since the car only has 19,000 miles on it and it’s been sitting in an air-conditioning garage.

Consider that electronics can go bad due to time alone.
Oxygen in the air affects solder joints.
The car is 28 years old after all.
Age also affects rubber seals.
Better check the tires. If they are original, they could fail at any time. Replace them for your safety.

Capacitors etc on boards can fail due to age and not solely on use, there should be a fuse on the back of the headunit iirc hopefully it's just that
