Is this a bad PCV valve?

I changed it to an AutoZone one 4 years ago, didn't change the grommet though. Today I noticed there is oil on the exterior of the valve and a little on the hose that connects to it... oil like from vapor leaking through seals. Also I noticed there is some oil around front valve cover gasket... also like vapor leaking through. Also, I'm not totally sure, but I think today when I reached for the oil dipstick in the dark, it was popped out a bit. Also been having a very faint rough idle, usually until engine warms up... dunno if that's connected or from something else.

No CEL yet, but I read the flashing codes and it blinked 0304, which is knock sensor. I had knock sensor replaced a couple years ago.

I can't help you. I have never had the need to replace the PCV valve on my 95SE, although it only has 124,250 miles on it.

I did have the valve cover gaskets replaced a while back because of leakage.

RITE,

I’d personally recommend that you go ahead and change them both out again … the PCV (+ the grommet this time) as well as the knock sensor.

They’re both relatively inexpensive and can both be replaced using up a given Saturday or Sunday.

Hi,
I had this problem with PCV valve (bad idle, lack of power, etc.). I changed the PCV valve with second market and it improved but wasn't perfect. Ionly solved the problem completely when I put an OEM part.

PUT AN OEM PART, otherwise it will not work perfectly.
