PCV system "upgrade" instead of cleaning valve cover oil separators?

Machine shop owner said that oil separators in valve covers get clogged, that is why oil goes through PCV valve and air vent hose.
PCV valve is in rear valve cover, air vent hose connects valve cover and rubber boot.
Who knows how valve cover oil separator looks like in Maximas?

PCV system

The PCV valve is located on the rear valve cover, the reason of oil blowby of 5th generation maxima is that the piston is tapered. The best solution is to change the valve cover with 2004 valve cover and valve cover gasket and install a PCV oil catcher. Replacing the rear valve cover is a tedious job because the inake manifold must be removed. I did it myself.

Thanks, Colt. Did you install oil catcher or replaced valve covers?

^^noob^^

You only need to replace your VC if you are leaking oil either directly around the VC, or on your coilpacks.
Otherwise a PCV can be purchased separately and simply unscrews from your old VC.
I do recommend an oil catch can for about any car with a PCV.

Here is the one I have:

Works great.
There are a lot to choose from though.
I just got a simple and proven one.

PCV oil Catcher

I replaced the valve cover because the #5 sparkplug seal is leaking. Just install a PCV oil catcher.Presently I have a Jegs oil catcher ($61.99 made of plastic) but I will upgrade to this
Amazon.com: ADD W1 Red Baffled Universal Aluminum Oil Catch Tank Can Reservoir Tank Red Ver.1: Automotive Amazon.com: ADD W1 Red Baffled Universal Aluminum Oil Catch Tank Can Reservoir Tank Red Ver.1: Automotive
all metal for $89.99
By the way use a PCV 3/8 tubing (do not use transmission, fuel line tubing or polyurethane tubing=collapses in high vacuum most specially in summer time when the engine is hot)

PCV oil Catcher

I uppgraded my oil catcher from jegs to ADD W1 oil catcher. I observed that jeg oil catcher is too small to catch all the blow by oil, somehow some of it still reach the intake manifold. I bought the jegs catcher for $49.99, now they raise it to $61.99 The ADD W1 is as big as large coffee mug , all metal with 9 or 15mm fittings, with baffles, well built ( I still use the 3/8 PCV tubing). I believe to spend $69.99 for a catcher that is made from plastic and part metal is too expensive ,this is similar to home depot brand of oil separator for $10-15 dollars. I highly recommend ADD W1 oil catcher (price of $89.99)
