Any experience with valve lash adjustment?
My 1997 Maxima SE has a VQ30DE engine and 105K miles. The "tappet-like" noises from the engine have become a little louder, and stay audible even after the engine heats up. My educated guess is that the valve lash adjustment (peculiar only to the VQ engine) is wearing out of range. The solution is to follow a measuring procedure, calculating the thickness of new shims to correct the variation, and install the new shims with a Nissan tool. Does anyone have experience in having this done, and the time/cost incurred?
