Ambient air sensor location

To the community,I have a 1995 Maxima, manual climate control. 1st , do all 4th Gen Maxima's have an ambient air sensor regardless of having auto or manual climate controls? If so..what is it's purpose/ function and where is it located?

Manual climate, no. Auto, yes. It's behind the grille in front of the radiator/condenser. The ACC needs input from multiple sensors to adjust the doors in the duct work, fan speed, and air source. ACC also has interior temp sensor and a sunload sensor near the defrost vent.

Unrelated to climate control, the engine uses an air temp sensor located in the intake ducting. It's either before or after the air filter depending on the year.

Thanks Bud for clearing that up. Just having intermittent ac cooling. Mostly cold AC on humid days, generally always cold on hot days above 92. Hearing the compressor cycle on / off in cooler mornings, idle drops down while cycling having everything ac wise on. Everything has been replaced except pressure switch on drier. Thought something might be clogged but that doesn't explain the intermittent cooling. Sometimes I can turn it off ,wait a few minutes then turn back on and it'll be cold again.
