99 overheating

this 99 maxima i've had sitting for few years recently got it up and running its overheating replaced the thermostat thinking that would fix it... did not work now I'm thinking it might be the water pump tried checking the ects sensor and it looked fine checked it with a multi meter checking resistance looked fine....one odd thing is the temp gauge will stay in the middle on the dash gauge when i can tell it's too hot under the hood it's like the car can't measure its too hot.

the check engine light is on solid when driving

Radiator full? Overflow tank full?
Health and condition of rad cap? Check that rad cap can hold pressure?
Have you looked to see if both fans are running?
Burped the system of air?

If you're sure you got all the air out of the system....

Start the engine from cold. How long before the radiator hose at the top of the radiator gets hot?

I park on a steep hill with the nose of the car facing upward...Careful when releasing the cap... And I top it off and let it cycle for a while before resealing the cap. I also make sure the reservoir is FULL and the line between the radiator and reservoir is not compromised in any way.

If your top radiator hose at the radiator isn't getting hot but the engine temp is HOT, your fluid is not moving. Pump?

And why no report on the CODES? Hello!
