car was playing up realised it was low ish on oil (likely burned but I have a VQ so oh well) topped up the oil and drove it about 350km through hills to southern part of my island. All was well. Car drove like she never has before and felt 10/10 fuel economy 10, power 10

drove it to the supermarket twice over the next three days no worries.

got ready to drive it home and all of a sudden a new sound arose.

sounds like booty.

I’ve included a video of the sound. Note that the high pitch tapping sound is my lifters (clogged from poor maintenance from my grandfather)

it’s the almost GURGLING knock I’m super concerned about.

sounds like it could be my camshaft? I’m likely going to take to mechanic, drove first hour and it’s worse after driving but then quiet as once the engine is off for a couple minutes and then turned back on.

this car is the only thing I have of my grandfather and I’d love to keep it if I can. But I’m worried it’s a full engine knock and I’m cooked.
