Check the fuse?

Does it make any sounds?

Does it work when you use the manual crank?

Motor runs, but is stuck in full open position. I am not sure how the mechanism works to open and close, might have a broken attachement or its off the track.

my '95 240SX had that problem. It seemed it would get stuck, so what I did was press hte button in the opposite direction (as if to open it) and then suddenly press the close button. Then it closes. Or press the sunroof button then press the moonroof button.

Hope that helps.

Mine is the same way, ever since someone jumped on my roof while it was open. I took it all apart and found that there is just the slightest bend in the track that the motor can't pull it past. I had to get a friend to pull on the window at the same time as I held the button down and that got it past the pinch, but it gets stuck again if I reopen it. Found out that a new track assembly costs almost a grand from the dealer, so I just got it closed and disconnected the motor so people can't mess with it.

Have you tried manually closing it?

Make sure the sliding shade is not in the way. There is one motor in a maxima that is the torque monster and that is not it.

I've tried all of the obvious things, I have been successful in pulling it closed, but not the back of the glass is not at the right height. Now will not open or clsoe, motor just runs. At least it won't so cold in the morning when its 20 degrees.

I have the same problem. I went to the dealer and talked to my inside man. He said that the entire rail assembly would need to be changed. The part itself is $560. The labor would be around $500. I live in LA but I don't like the sun that much so I told him to close the sunroof and disconnect the switches so nobody, including the guys who drive the cars around at the dealers, could mess it up. Cost $45.

Man you have a cool dealer then. Mine wanted over $900 just to sell me that track assembly, and that didn't include any labor. Well, $500 for labor is pretty steep I guess. Shoot, I'd install it for you for a hundred.

i had the same problem. the dealer talked me into buying an extended warranty that cost me over $1500 to cover the roof. it ended up that the warranty didnt cover it and i payed almost $900 to get it fixed. so i payed close to $3k to get mine fixed
the cable was broken that pulls the roof and the rail was not bent, if it was bent then it would have been covered under the warranty.

I think the dealership screwed you. The roof should be under warranty if the cable breaks and not be if the track is bent. In my opinion the track being bent means as mentioned above that something or someone pressed on the roof to make it bent. The key word for the cable is breaking. If something breaks it should be under warranty and damage or neglegence should not be warrantied, or excessive abuse, wear and tear etc..... like a track being bent.

I would contact Nissan USA and see what they say.
If it was 50 bucks I would not waste my energy but 900 is a large chunk for me anyways.

Good LUck

One benefit of being broke, my dealer can't rip me off like that because I can't buy anything from them anyways.
