VB Install Problem

Just finished an all night install of the VB mod, and now I'm having a big problem. The car won't go into any gear. Nothing happens when I put the car into gear, it's still in neutral the whole time. And I can't push the shifter into 1st. I think maybe I didn't get the shift linkage back in the right spot. Everything else I triple checked, but that I can't remember checking. Would that cause this problem?

Its the manual linkage pin. I hope you didn't bend it.

You have to put the pin around the linkage at the same time you are putting the VB back. Before you open up the pan again, put the car in neutral. You will need to remove the VB if the linkage pin is binding, or not installed correctly, or bent.

Before you install the pan again, get someone to shift the gears for you (while you are under the car) to ensure smooth operation of shifter.

its been several weeks with that VB, when you gonna finish? tick-tock....lol

Thanks guys, fixed it and everything is great now. I can finally hit full boost without the tranny slipping.

Don, the VB is going out on Monday, sorry about the delay, it was just really, really busy. Didn't mean to contribute to your core problems.

I feel for ya having to open the tranny up again to fix that ****. I had to do mine 3 times, lost the spring the first time, broke the gasket the 2nd.

Big difference. Under normal cruising, the car shifts faster, it's noticable compared to the stock shifts which are seamless. But when I floor it, the shifts are very quick. My car is supercharged, and before, when the car shifted, the tranny would slip. I couldn't hit full boost without having the tranny slip and cause my to bounce off the rev limiter. Now, I can floor my car, and the car will shift perfectly every time. A couple of times, my car would start to shift at 5.5K, and not finish the shift until redline. But the VB cured that.

Re: Re: VB Install Problem

You have to disconnect the harness at the top of the tranny, underneath the intake. There's a clip on the plug at the top of the tranny, right above the valve body. Unclip that, the plug should come out, then work the harness all the way down through that hole. It took us 2 hours to get the harness down there because it got stuck between the tranny, the engine mount, and a few other things.

Yeah, I guess you're right. I should take it off. And then I'll put on a front license plate with a big, huge Nissan logo, some awesome wind defelctors all over my car and then to top everything else off, some fancy pinstriping right down the side. Then I won't look 'cheap', right?
