100k

i just hit 100k yestarday on my 98 se 5pd. since i just got the car from my dad at 95k, an he has never done anything to it except change the oil... should i do anything to it. right now it runs perfectly but i dont want it to get screwed up. his last car was a 90 eclipse gsx and all he ever changed was the transmission at 260k and the brakes once at around 210k. the damn turbo still worked until we donated it at 280k! my dad seems to get lemons that are good. but anyways, should i do anything or wait for something to go wrong? thanks in advance.

Dude:

Get the 60K maintenance done ASAP!
If you are mechanically inclined, you can do it yourself. You will keep that VQ running longer and smoother.

Atleast perform the following:
1) Replace spark plugs
2) Fuel Filter - waaayy overdue. Should be done every 30K
3) PCV Valve
4) Manual Tranny Fluid - I prefer Redline MT-90 which is synthetic.

There is no substitute for maintenance.

I guess you wont be doing the 60k yourself, but the throttle cable is under the hood towards the back of the engine bay near the firewall on the top side of the motor. It is a cable that looks like a bicycle brake cable. You may have two cables: 1 is for the throttle and 1 is for cruise control if you have it. If you have both, the cable closest to the firewall is the throttle cable. Good luck.
