maf sensor mod

my friend has a probe gt atx and he showed me wat he did to his tranny he cut a wire from the air sensor and hooked it up to a switch. he took me for a ride and when he had the switch off the engine light would come on. the car would run normally but when he floored it intead of the transmision taking a while to switch like automatics usually do it switch so fast that the wheels chirped goin into second and sometimes goin into 3rd. his track times were faster by .3 of a second. Does anyone no wat he did and can it be done to the maxima .i dont care if it ruins my tranny becuase as soon as it goes im doing a 5 speed conversion.thanks

Why do you ask him what he did?

Find out how and why it works before you report back to us.

it disconnects the wire that causes the ecu to cut the throttle win shifting at wide open throttle. thats wat causes the long shifts that slow ur track times. so the car gets a boost during shifts that feels like having nos for a split second.we tryed lookin at the maximas sensor but his probe has a vaf sensor and the maximas have a maf sensor so i dont know which wire sends the signal to the tranny.
i checked maxima driver.com and checked the how toos. i found a link that said maf sensor mod but the link wasn't workin if u know wat this is please let me know. thanx
