Need help with flaky stereo lights and inop dash lights
Hello,
I have a 96 Maxima SE.
First question concerns the stock am/fm/tape/cd stereo unit. The LED display for the radio station fades in and out at random. The radio can be working fine but no display, and then all of a sudden it will come on. Obviously something is loose. Is this a common problem? Easy fix (besides replacing the stereo!)?
Second question: One or more light bulbs have burnt out in the climate control-a/c control panel. Mostly around the lower left corner (blue cooler arrow, defost button...etc). Are the light bulbs easily replaceable?
Finally, what's the best way to get into that area on the dash? There are no obvious openings or screws to start with.
Thanks in advance.

Look for the mod I believe in the HOW2 section at www.maximadriver.com about how to replace the colored lights in stuff like the dash etc. They show how to change them to a new color but if you wanted then you could probably change them to the same etc. That might be a place to starts anyhow.
To get in behind the radio and stuff is odd. Start near the shifter. Pull out the plastci piece that wraps around it and works its way up to the ciggarette lighter. From there remove the cord behind the lighter and take it all the way out. Then remove the ash try and work up. You will keep finding screws and can just take them out until your able to pop out the piece holding in the radio.
