Going to work the other day I saw a black Conquest TSI pulled over by the Highway Patrol and by the time I had gotten off the highway, ran a quick errand and was heading for the office the same car pulled along side of me.
I heard him revving his engine. I rolled down my window since he was mouthing something. He asked if I wanted to race but I told him I didn't want a ticket to which he replied he had just gotten one.
Since we were at a light that is part of a divided 2 lane highway with a 55MPH limit I told him I would race up to 60 MPH and waited for the light to change.
I think we both barked the tires slightly, he shifted into second before me, was almost at my rear doors when I shifted to second but after that he was toast. I had about a 1.5 car lenght or more lead by the time I was going 60 in third gear. He went by me about 65-70 MPH after I stopped racing at 60 MPH an mouthed "you got me" and kept going.
Maybe this should have been posted in the other thread where the car blows up after racing because his Conquest didn't sound too healthy when we started side by side.

 

He had just gotten a ticket and was lookin for races? Strange.

Whenever I get stopped by cops, I'm always very leery of any speed limit/illegal stuff on car. Not fun times for me when cop puts on lights...

That is a good question but didn't seem to care maybe he wore it as a badge of honor? But anyway I did make his day just a little bit worse.

I agree last time I got a ticket it made me watch every speed limit for a few weeks and I usually still don't speed too often.

 

Chrysler Conquest TSI. Turbo'd, intercooled, RWD. The original DSM, same as Mitsubishi Starion.

 

Problem with Aluminum Cylinder heads... but they can be fast if fixed up. A good match for slightly modded Maxes... lots of grunt with the small turbo and 2.6L engine.

 

That last/only time I got a ticket I had to go much faster than I was when I GOT my ticket because I was going to be late for work : ( But regardless, that is pretty stupid of the guy. Oh well, it's his money, not mine!
