Race event: Sexima vs MX6?

A friend of mine has a MX6.
it's like... 1995..
around there.
he has exhaust and stick.. my baby is an auto.
I beat this accord that he raced before..
the win was about the same. He said he messed up the launch.
I just got my belt and y-pipe and wheel balance has been finished.
ok. now.. he got something new that adds 10 hp (he wouldn't tell me what)
and new wheels (he said it's lighter and it GRIPS)
I am putting bet on this and i would like to know what you guys think?
My mods now: Y-pipe, Intake
His mods: Exhaust, 10hp adding mod, light wheels.

Is he turbo? If so, be careful since he probably tweeked on that, but I doubt that if he did he only gained 10hp. Anyway unless he dynoed it, he's going by his "seat" dyno. Personally, I wouldn't be scared of him either way, but it's your money so do accordingly.

It would probably be pretty close. The KLD or KL03 V6 engine from the MX-6/Probe GT produces about 165(crank) in stock form. So with his mods, if true, he could be around 180(crank) or so. You with your y-pipe and intake SHOULD be able to keep with him if not edge him out if he doesn't get a great launch, even though you're automatic. I think it will be a great race.

i think it really matters how much lighter his new rims r compared to his older ones, and also if he changed sizes, like went from an 18" to a 16" rim/tire size

mx6 vs. Maxima

I raced my friends MX6 V6 5spd in my brothers 95' Max (auto), pretty close match but the Max pulled away. The maxima has more torque than the mazda.

i raced a probe GT which has the mazda engine in it with a CAI while i only had pop charger..... pretty close... but he beat me though. if you do it shifting from 1 - 2 - D u'll pull hard on him on 2 then after that 3rd gear.... he might start pulling... i wouldn't bet on it hehe..

Having owned both cars, my money is on the MX6 IF it is a V6. You didn't mention whether it is or not. 1993-1998 they were offered with 2.0L I-4 and 2.5L V6. Turbos were 1st gen, 1988-1992.

The V6 engine reminds me of the VQ, just toned down a little because it is .5L smaller. Only thing is that they don't respond that well to mods, certainly not as well as the VQ. My friend ran a best of 15.0 in his with intake, exhaust, headers and STS. Stock they run about 15.3 with a good driver. So, vs an auto max my money is on the MX6 V6 in a drag race. I'd say race him from a 40 or 60 roll to take advantage of your car most. Up top your superior power should win out. But quick shifting and closer gearing will give him the advantage down low.

Just race him dude. Doesn't matter if it's a 5spd V6. Many people underestimate an automagic Maxima. If you do lose, who cares, can't win them all.

I raced a friend in his MX6 on the road. I pulled a little on him, but not very much. I'm a 97 Auto, and his was the last gen MX6, stick. If he's got mods, you might have a problem. When I raced him I had intake/exhaust/y-pipe ..

that's a close one...

i've got a 99 max se auto...stock engine wise...i've raced mx-6 v-6 5 speeds before...that **** is fast...it's a close race that could go either way...if you get a good launch (1500 rpm brake torque)you may win...depends on whose driving the mx-6...if i was driving it then i would probably walk my max...

true this is a tough one...

my friend has a v6 probe.. and we did a couple launches every so often here and there. It was usually pretty even. but since i'm manual i'd always take off faster. He's also mtx, but 0-60 is like 7.2
i believe. They good cars the mx6 and probe.

post your kill when it's over hehe

Personally i think you're tourque is what will make you win.

The mod for 10hp he got might of been this electronic supercharger for $300 here is the link http://www.electricsupercharger.com They say it gives you 1 psi and there is a right up in costumer responses and there is a guy with a max that says he dynoed his max at 208hp.

1. Poorly Engineered
2. Installation Pics don't look clean at all(very unprofessional)
3. Not enough pressure and air flow when WOT
4. They didn't specify what items were used on those dyno charts(stock or after market intake)
5. Their whole reasoning for it working only on WOT is very stupid. Real superchargers work all the time(even when idle) while turbos engage as soon as engine reaches certain RPM
6. Operates only at WOT will be hard for people to judge whether there's actual gain or not. Seems like they are playing a psyhological game
7. The only reason that it actually gains a few HP is because it is very short and that it's mounted directly on the throttle body
8. I think it's just the K&N filter that gave the gain, also because they dynoed it with the hood open
9. Enough said, it's just BS, lol~ =

I hope U are the better driver. The V6 MX6 mtx's with intake/exhaust are pretty quick. My sister has one with I/E and 2nd and 3rd gear pull very good. Here is a word of advice don't do a roll on at 40mph or 60mph. At those speeds the engine is turning right between the torque peak and power peak. I believe the mx6 would start to pull on you right around 80mph. As soon as you hit 3rd gear, the 6 is in 4th pulling hard.
