Would it be Bad if I had 20W 50 oil to my car

It's burning some oil not alot, my mechanic said.. I can add it and see if it stops the white smoke.

20w 50 is kinda thick to use. It won't hurt the car though. You'll just suffer some gas milage and a slight power loss. Tell your mechanic that he should fix your blown head gasket. That'll stop the white smoke.
