dealer performs goodwill service! good story!

here's what happened, it's kind of long but a good story. my car was intermittently missing whenever I was at a stop. I couldn't figure it out since i just changed my plugs, pcv, cleaned my iacv and throttle body. i also checked the resistance on the ignition coils. all checked fine. so i take it to the dealer and they checked the data signal (ecu), power balance test, ignition timing, base idle and fuel injection pulse. It took them 2 days to find it was an ignition coil. the whole check and adjustments cost me $89. they recommended changing all 6 ignition coils for $800, parts and labor (car out of warranty). i said no, find which coil was damaged and replace the broken one. they said they didn't know which coil was bad since they tested all new coils at once. so i said put my old coils back in. this story is pretty normal right, here where things start to change.

next day i go to the local nissan office and ask whats the warranty on the coils. they say it's 3yr/36K, i'm out of luck. few hours later i get a call from the dealership to make an appointment and they will take care of everything. apparantly, nissan followed up with the dealer and worked out a fix that cost me nothing.

i hear so many horror stories about nissan dealerships. one thing is for sure, get to know as many people at nissan on a friendly basis. i've had a lot of help from parts and service people. one thing, don't get ****ed off at them, just work together and things will be much easier. their just doing their job like you and me and sometimes rules can be bent, but you won't bend them for someone that's a jerk.

so it worked out for you this time...lucky...but most of
the time dealers...especially nissan dealers screw their
customers...that's the main reason why my next car will NOT
be a nissan, even though i like my max, i can't stand the
consistently bad nissan service that i have experienced at
several dealers...

sorry my experience has been different, becuz of things like this org i have learned much more about my car and am happy for it, i have been able to locate problems very easily. the only negative thing now is nissan cant screw me anymore, im only 17 so i dont wanna go in there and be like, yea, this is whats wrong fix it, i know older people dont want some punk kid givin them orders, but ever since i have targeted problems things got worse, the main this is when my idle went bad and i left a note saying if they could please check my idle air control valve or adjust my tps sensor, becuz thats what i think the problem is. first their ****ed that i tried to daignose it, then they say i was tinkering with it, and so i got very detailed in what was going on under the engine etc. the funny thing is after 3 days of them not being able to "find the problem" im talkin to the mechanic cuz the guys at the desk are meat heads, my friend was lookin through the mechanics info receipt for the hell of it and finds under "customer info:" customer complains of idle blah blah blah...then written in pen it says, beware customer is smart, son of a b@#$# *****@#$#as, who cares what i know!!!! you shouldnt try to screw people in the first place, so after a week of them with my car and them saying let the mechanics do their job, i took the car from them, took it to my buddies shop, we changed idle air control valve then adjusted tps sensor with a voltameters and it was fixed in 15 mins. ever since i took it there cruise control wasnt workin so i finally went under the hood and wahlah! all cruise stuff was disconnected, i hooked it all up and it was fine, but im sure they wanted me back to try to take some more money, bastiches.... sorry for bein so long like all my other posts, i get carried away

be respectful and you'll br treated with respect

i think people are not understanding why i wrote this post. the guys at nissan aren't trying to intentionally rip you off. it may seems like that bacause of the procedures they must follow. you have the option not to repair what they recommend. all i'm saying is the guys at nissan have all the tools and information best to repair and diagnose your car, this is true. if you are respectful to the service advisor it probably will work to your advantage. these guys are people too, if you initially treat them like dirt or pretend you know everything you'll my end up regreting you took it there. for all you kids out there, you'll learn that you don't know everything and sometimes you need help, not just with your car. by the way, when i took my car i didn'tell tham all the things i checked, changed or cleaned and still couldn't figure it out. read between the lines what i'm saying. if you can't figure out what i'm saying you have the right to hate your local nissan dealer!

i specifically state that i make it a point not to be a know it all, make sure you know that people dont get ripped off becuz they are disrespectful, its cuz some people are cheats and take advantage of people, and in my opinion that is the majority, now i belive their are good ones out there i know from first hand experience, but just cuz you found a good one doesnt mean we were all wrong....

I've been relatively luck with my dealership. The people there are pretty friendly there labor rates are pretty expensive but there parts rate are as low as I've seen including a few online places.

I think they where ranked 3rd best Nissan dealership on the east coast or VA or something like that

got lucky

from reading all the other post, maybe i got lucky. i've been ripped off from the local toyota dealer on my last car, that's why i went with nissan. i guess there are good dealerships and bad ones. next time you choose a location for a home, this should one of the deciding factors...joke! good luck for all of you that had bad experiences from your local nissan dealership.

Not all dealers are bad, but I think most our. Glad you a had a good experience with one.

To whoever posted this is why my next car won't be a Nissan. I had to go to a Honda dealer to get soemthing fixed under warranty. They suck too! If at all possible, do-it-yourself is the way to go.
