Sunroof auto close ...

I got my Python 3000 alarm a long time ago when I was working at a detail/alarm shop and at the time, the installer told me it would be a b*tch to get the sunroof to auto close since there's already a relay in the motor and it woudl require taking the motor apart. Can anyone validate this? Has anyone done this? All of my windows go up when I arm the car, I just wish I could get the sunroof to close too. Any suggestions/pertinent info would be appreciated.

that sounds like a really good idea......i thought that it would be the same as having the alarm roll up the windows for you - (my alarm does that) - why dunt u talk to the people at phython?

Big: The answer to your sunroof question is the WC1000 from autoloc.com. You will only need one. ($40)

So these window solenoid thingys can open all the windows and sunroof with stock remote? and close all with stock remote? cool! But wait... is it possible to make it that you HOLD DOWN the button on your remote for a good 5 secs, THEN all the windows and roof opens? because lets say its raining... if a touch of the button opens and doors AND the windows and you just want the doors open.. the water all over

Or maybe, what if.... the panic button requires you to hold the button for 5 secs for it to sound off.. can you use that button? because the site says that a touch of a button gets em all to go up or down... so a single little click on that button wont sound off the alarm, but will gets all windows and roof down...

And since you can do that with the stock remote with the front windows, do these solenoids take over the use of the stock remote window rollers? Or can you link the front window rollers with these new solenoids to work together?

Haha Audi and VW suckers gotta walk to their car to open em with a key.. but with VW owners.. if you leave windows and/or sunroof open.. if you lock with remote, it closes all up.

No, but that is the plan. I was too nervous to order 5 so I just ordered one. I received it this week. I want to play with it and if I like it, I'll order the rest. Seems pretty straight forward. You simply put it in-line with the stock up and down signal wires. And then there is a negative pulse input for the up and down to work with the stock remote. Sorry I haven't tried it yet. If you want, I can fax you the instructions and wire diagram for our car. Sorry I can't help more. I'll post again when I am done.

**** Yes.

But wait... is it possible to make it that you HOLD DOWN the button on your remote for a good 5 secs, THEN all the windows and roof opens?

**** I asked the same question and got a no. And although I haven't looked into it yet (I will), I beleive they are right. The WC1000 will roll up (or down) the window the second it senses a negative pulse. (Ex. the second you press the lock or unlock button).

Or maybe, what if.... the panic button requires you to hold the button for 5 secs for it to sound off.. can you use that button?

**** Ha-ha!!! Exactly what I was thinking. I asked and was told no. But I plan on exploring this option...
Good thinking.

And since you can do that with the stock remote with the front windows, do these solenoids take over the use of the stock remote window rollers? Or can you link the front window rollers with these new solenoids to work together?

**** You ask EXCELLENT questions Infin. I don't know man. I don't know. The WC1000 is press and the stock is hold so...? But I guess they could conflict too.

I'll play with it and post about it...

So, how does the sunroof know how to close? How will it tell if its cracked or actually slid open?
My application would be a bit different because I'm not using my stock remote, I have a 16 channel, 4 button remote. I can actually isolate these actions for separate buttons.
I have my front windows on one button, they all go up when armed and I have the trunk on another button.
I'm looking to tie in the back windows with the front and use the sunroof on its own channel while arming the vehicle will close everything including the sunroof.

Yeah, that's a very good point. How will it know if it's slid or tilted? My guess is you will have to chose one only. I guess you could get two wc1000s and hook them up to the tilt close and the slide close but will it confuse the car??? I was more interested in getting the one touch option than I was in operating my windows/sunroof off the remote. I'm not sure what to tell you. It might be possible but I can't say for sure. Sorry I can't help more.

P.s. Why do you want everything to close when you arm your car? I crack my windows and sunroof all the time (especially on hot days)! That's why if I do hook my windows up to my (stock) alarm then it won't be off the arm. I don't want my windows rolling up everytime I arm my car. That's why I was thinking along the lines as Infinitistyle (using the panic button or holding a button). We'll see. I am still savoring the supercharger to really care too much about little mods. But I'll get to it...

I really think the Panic button is good idea... Scratch the button holding down idea.. because if it just opens according a negative pulse given, and it requires a good 5 secs for the panic to go off, then that button is perfect.. Screw those guys who said you cant and explore that option... let me know about it bro..

Ya the issue here is the conflicting actuators that roll down the windows on the stock alarm... Hmmm could that be a possible threat or problem? A question that is unanswered...

And finally, thats an excellent point Big_Ham... the tilt/open issue... i believe you must use 2 actuators in order to get it to work..

Ya Potato, i agree... on those hot summer nights and you pull into a lot to a meet with some car nuts, you'll want to lock the doors but keep the windows open... Thats why im thinking you leave the LOCK button on the remote alone just for locking... And BEFORE you lock, just press the PANIC button, the windows go up, then punch the lock button to lock it.. 2 hazard blinks and your set!

And for those nice nights, just hit the lock button with every possible window down Nothing beats those humid nights at a parking lot full of done up cars... AAHHH CANADA SUCKS WHEN IT COMES TO WEATHER!!!

After I arm my car, I can use botton 3 to crack the windows. Mine aren't single touch down. The longer I hold down the button, the further the windows roll down.

**** Yeah, I hear you bro. That's what I was thinking too. The hold probably won't work but the panic just might. But does it give out a negative pulse when you just touch it? That's the question. Also, don't forget, there's the trunk button too. Touch it instead of hold it... We'll see... I'll keep you guys updated.

I used to have to when I had my OEM remote and so did my mom on her 95 and so does my sister on her 99 and my bro on his 98. You have nothing to be concerned about. If it started to open when you touched it, that's when you should be concerned.
