keyless entry

keyless entry

i have a 96 max se that i bought without the keyless fobs. i just got hold of one for free ($120 from dealer, $88 wholesale a piece!)
and dont know how to program it! help!

i am not sure if your maxima comes with the system required for this, but if it does, programming is really simple, just do a search for it because i can't recall the whole thing off the top of my head

I can recall it. Just do something like:

1) Get in your car, lock all of the doors.

2) Put your key inside the ignition hole more than 6 or 7 times in less than 10 seconds. The hazards should blink. This means that your car's code is reset.

3) Turn the key to the ACC dot. Press the Lock button on your keyless remote.

With those steps, your keyless remote should begin working. Hope that helps.

BTW, you could've gotten a near-new or brand new one on ebay for around $25!

i emailed you also, just wanted to post an official thank you! that worked fine, and can now brag about how i got this fob for free, but have to explain how stupid i am for waiting until i had the car for over a year to do it.

doesn't it give the instructions in the user manual? i remember skiming across it.

i dont have an owner's manual. now that you mention it, i should get one. anyways, the above instructions from turdfurguson worked, and i now have keyless entry.
