I have a 99SE-L automatic. I want to make it a 5-speed, I have a manual transmission from a 95SE, Will this work??? And if it does, I would also want to put in a new clutch, therefore should I get a clutch for a 95 or 99, or does it not matter? Are all 99 SE Maximas SE-L?

THANX

The only part of your questions I can answer iswhether all 99 SE are SE-L. NO. Only the later models. NIssan usually names its models limited editions when they change body styles as they did with the late 99 maxima.

SE-Limited

What do you mean thay changed body styles???All they did was stick a badge on the side of the car and the rugs are different and they made a new color I would not consider that a new body style.Anyways all 99 SE's are badged SE-Limeted,there was still 99 GXE's and GLE's.The clutches on all 95-99's are exactly the same. You will need a lot more parts to change your car to a 5-Speed,I am not sure what exactly else but when you do get a new clutch you may want to consider a performance clutch and Flywheel the 2 from Stillen will run you about $800.

The auto to stick conversion >>>>>>

can be done but is very time consuming to do and you will need alot more than the transmission. There is a guy I think his name is MEHRAN Screen name XI MAX SC, he is selling his car in the MAXIMA'S FOR SALE section he has done the swap, you might want to e-mail him to see what parts are needed and how much it may cost. I believe the last time I asked him , he told me that his father's shop would do the labor only for like $2000. Good luck !!!!!!

I thought about doing the same thing, but it seem like it's a bit too much hassle to convert an auto to a 5spd. I think getting the VB upgrade from Don would be a better choice. And if that's not enough, you could always call Level 10 up, and get a torque converter upgrade.

I can't comment on your tranny swap, but can you tell me where you got your tranny, and how much you paid for it? Thanks...... Bullseye.

Thanks for the info guys. I actually have all the parts necessary cause my dad buys maximas at salvege auctions and has that 95 5-speed for parts, so I should have all I need. I know it will take some time, but my dad will basicaly do the job for me, and I definetly think its worth it.

Thanks
