Score another one for us AUTOS! (V6 stang race)

WOO, heh, I just beat a V6 rustang on my way home. im a 98 SE auto with cheap *** intake (not oscai) and thats pretty much it.

I was stopped at a red light, two lane street. These two guys in an ugly *** multi-color 96 mustang convertible V6 pull up next to me and start eyeing me, I look over to the left for a sec and see them both staring at me...I dont pay attention because I dont want to race. THe light turns green and he guns it like theres no tomorrow, flies away and keeps going. I think to myself "I could beat him" and I gun it after like 30 seconds to catch up to him. I know that there is a light up ahead that is ALWAYS red and there are NEVER people there. So I catch up to him and get into the other lane.
I look over once and then stare straight, turn off OD and grip the steering wheel with both hands.
The light turns green we both punch it, my car shifts at 5k rpms, we fly, his lane starts ending... as I look over, I dont see him next to me, I see him on my rear right, his engine still screaming over my intake. I know he wasnt slowing down because as soon as his lane ended he was tailing me at around 60 on the one lane street...at 80 I lose him. I slow down and flash my hazards as a joke, and laugh to myself. I look back and see him flashing his hazards non stop ( I think he was trying to tell me something). Anyways, I think he was auto too because he was DAMN SLOW. He followed me again for a couple of streets untill I had to turn left, thats when he did the ricer fly-by. The end.

This one makes me feel A LITTLE better after losing to a super-charged jetta a couple of weeks ago...damn those rustangs are slow.

Mustang, V-6, Auto, Convertible = lead sled.

Glad you chalked up the kill, but just fyi, the ragtop is several hundred lbs. heavier than the coupe. With the auto & V-6, he never really stood a chance.

Oh, I agree entirely. (Convertible/auto/v6) Besides, anytime's a good time to "spank a poser." Glad you schooled him.

Yeah, you can always count on those v6 auto 'stangs for a nice boost. Right now I am coming off a loss to a turbo'd prelude (thought it just had kit, rims, and exhaust, but boy was I wrong)so I know it is nice anytime you can score a kill. Keep up the good work.

First OD off makes no difference in acceleration.

Second why would it shift at only 5000 if you were WOT? Shouldnt it shift at 6400?
