STILLEN SS MUFFLER - Opinions please...
I have a universal straight through now. I feel no back pressure at all and I think that is what leads to my lose of power off the light. But I love the look of it tho. The stillen muffler looks great too. For thos who have it or know anything about it, is it a striaght through type or will it give me back a lil back pressure. And of course the inevitable question. How will it sound? I have just an intake now and might decide to get a y pipe too after I change my muffler. If not stillen, got other suggestions?

i have it on. its my first change off the stock muffler, honestly, stock muffler works almost the best -i feel like i lost some low end with the muffler -it IS straight thru. unless you get a muffler with a baffle its gonna lose low end

Straight-thru mufflers probably only describe that the sound chamber is totally hollowed out.
Based on the overall shape such as width and length can determine if you are losing flow velocity and/or generating turbulence at low RPMs -- which makes that low frequency booming sound.
You could probably get a "straight-thru" with a longer sound chamber front to rear and maybe less wide and get better overall flow results.
But a lot of those straight-thru mufflers are designed to make those booming sounds based on market appeal -- even though the velocity is less at lower RPMs. Most of the younger kids want their 4 and 6 cylinders to sound like V8s. So there you go.
