2k muffler

Ok i just got a quote from the nissan dealer for a 2000 muffler. They said it was a special order and would be $376. Is there anywhere to get it cheaper?

Look in the for sale forum. Sometimes you see good deals in there. I have seen em go for around 100 to 125. You have to wait sometimes but it is still a hefty discount.

I have a quick question.. Does the 2000 Maxima's muffler fit 95-99 Maxima's... I went to nissan here in Brooklyn and they told me it can't... Even STILLEN told me that there 2000 maxima muffler does not fit the 4th gen. max. is this true...?

From what ive heard on here it doesnt fit, but a muffler shop can make a quick adapter to make it fit right. It has something to do with it being at a different height and the size of the hole on your bumper.

Warpspeed performance sells a modified the 5'th gen muffler for the 4'th gen. I don't know how much they are asking for it.

Check out near the bottom of this page:

2000 Muffler

Hey guys I saw this thread. I did a search and found alot of hits, but not for muffler, but for rear bumper. If the cars rear bumper was OK after accident high probability that the muffler is alright as well. Previous poster was correct a muffler shop can easily make an adapter.

http://car-part.com/ Look under 2000 Maxima, if they have an 800 # call them up. Not sure if junk yards even know that they are worth much.I would call and try the low ball method. If I was looking this is the angle that I would try.

I have a 2000 muffler on my VE 3-gen for the last year or so. It's a great mod. But I don't have a bumper cut-out to worry about.

Just installed mine last weekend. It will fit but takes a good exhaust shop to do it. Differences incl

...inlet pipe diff length than 4th gen b-pipe
...inlet pipe is 2"-3" more to the right than centered
...inlet pipe looked like 2" diam (I think 4th gen is 2.5")

Some other posts said 15-20 min. Heck, mine took 2 hours incl pulling everything off from the Cat back. Doesn't look great against the small cutout but I wasn't going for looks

Before and after dyno is posted for those willing to search

Not trying to bust anyone's bubble but ...

Why would you want to spend $$$ to fit a 5th gen on a 4th gen? It's not a bolt on and the gains are probably not worth spending the $$$ to get it fitted.

1 hp max gain if you're lucky, check out the 4th gen FAQ if you don't believe me

2000K muffler

pocketrocket my guess is that people like the idea because it's pretty quiet but when you stomp on it,it's somewhat louder. Personally I like a little rumble all the time and when you stomp on it, loud as heck.

Re: 2000K muffler

You got a point Dan

The technical function of the 'smart' muffler is interesting enough to have

You'll be hearing from me when I need my y-pipe

so from looking at bejay1's dyno, we will gain hp but lose a slight amount of torque, would it be more beneficial to go with a greddy or stillen muffler if sound level is not a problem?... but im guessing im gonna get a response of 1 or 2 hp doesnt matter

The Greddy cat-back is real quiet but $$! I think the Stillen is noisy.

Check out BEJAY's dyno... you might want to rethink that statement.

Hmmmmmmm... he got it dynoed with the GForce ECU, though, right?

That might have something to do with it.

Others who have dynoed with just the 5th gen exhaust haven't gotten squat.

I saw what others got in the past but I pulled both with and WITHOUT the Gforce - before and after the muffler swap. Pull #1 and #3 was just swapping the muffler with stock ECU. +8.5hp, +8.6Tq. The Gforce pulls then verified similar gains.

Just can't explain it and neither can the installer. The 45yr old welder almost fainted when he saw the increase!

Wow that is a crazy gain, wonder if there was a problem with your stock one or something.

Factory freak.

But +8.5hp and +8.6Tq is pretty impressive.
