Need Help On Decision.

Hey guys I am looking at a 96 Maxima SE 5 speed, with 73K miles on it. Look I have ben talking to the guy for a while about the car and he says it runs perfectly and looks nice. He was telling me how it just got a new paint job. It's black with cloth interior. I was lookin for leather but supposedly the interior is in really good condition. I could do dual tone leather interior later anyway and it would be a whole lote nicer but at like 700$ I would do a whole lot of other stuff first. Anyway he's already got some stuff on it, like an intake, and exaust, rims, and Altezzas on it. Look all that seems cool except the Altezzas. When this guy was talkin to me on e-mail he was makin his "S" in to "Z". like "supz" and "gotz". Well anyway the Altezzas and the 17in Konig rims and the lingo just kinda scream racer to me. I am not looking for a car that gets street raced all the time. He says the car runs great and all, and I haden't talked to him in like a couple days. So I e-mailed him wondering about the car and he said he had it in the shop for maintnence. He said he was getting a new radiator and a couple of other things is how he put it. I am also nervouse about that clutch. 73K miles on it. Supposedly it is still the factory clutch. I haven't gotten around to askin him how long he has had the car or if he is a the first or second owner or whatever. But the guy also said this which confused me "runs good..defintely take a look at it..theres not much
to do to it except throw a box and a kit and i can get a nice price on a kit
4u" I have no idea what he meens by a box and a kit. But I asked him and he hasen't responded yet. I don't know it just sounds kinda sketchy to me. I am gonna get it checked out by a mechanic but would that really reveal any rust problems the guy has had before or any potential engine trouble I could have in the future. He wanted 11 and I told him the most I could spend at tops was 8 and that was only if everything worked perfectly and was in perfect condition. I can't spend money replacing stuff after I buy the car. After I buy the car money will be pretty damn hard to come by. Anyway guys I am lookin to buy and he has Konig racing rims on it so I think it should look pretty nice. I haven't seen a picture of it yet but the guy said he had Konig racing rims on it and didn't know what model they were. I asked him if they were like 5 or 6 spokes and he said there were lots of little ones. Anway guys I am really liking the soun of this car but it is 5 hours away from me and I don't really know if I should get it just cause I am getting a bad vibe about the car. Ohh yeah just to tell yah the guy who is selling it seems honest. I asked him if I could get a mechanic to check it out first and he said thats fine and even kinda encouraged me to do so. So I don't know what to think. The guy seems to be confident in his car but I don't know about the Altezzas. Usuaully people who take care of their cars and treat them like their babys don't put Altezzas on there. ALright guys please comment. I really wanna know what yah think. Should I buy or no?? I am really kinda divided.
Thanks

Well, he sounds like a street racer to me. Personally, I'd skip that car. Especially because of the Altezzas and his use of the letter "Z" too much.

Also, by box he means subwoofer box and kit means body kit.

Find a nicer one closer to you.

Yeah I had that feeling too. I am very new to Maximas, but I know the ricer, racer type from the days when I used to drive my moms station wagon and whoop civic butt in it. I meen if you are a real car enthusiast you should really know what model your rims are. I am gonna get the car checked out by a mechanic but do you think thats enough?

Your best safest bet is finding one stock.

Question that always comes into mind with a used car is that if there are no service records, you dunno if the person bothered to take care of it throughout its years ... oil change every 10k anyone?

I love my used 95 SE, just got it last summer at 77k, so far no probs.

Also, why does it need a new radiator already? That's odd.

Hmmm, new radiator, new paint job, 73k miles...smells like wrecked car to me.
