Body Kit or Nitrous

I have $1000 to spend.

One of the new body kits or Nitrous?

What do you all think?

body kit

Personally, I'm not very fond of the heavy modifications, like boost because it's dangerous, illegal, can be pricey and is likely to effect the reliability/drivability of your car. I'd do all the bolt ons and handling mods first. I wouldn't mess with the boost.

Besides, your car looks sweet enough as it is, my next car will definately be a white color if I can find it, most clean, looks awesome with tint, and a body kit? forgeddaboutit .. It's a must

I usually say go before show but in this case im going to have to say body kit. I have just heard too many horror stories about NOS to feel comfortable putting it in my car. Im sure there are people on this forum that have it and have not had any problems at all but I just dont think its worth the risk unless you race every two seconds. I say body kit, and if your gonna boost then get an SC. Take Care

Body kit. NOS can be fun but its also a lot more hassle and can cause a problem (ie cops hastle you).

Dont forget that once u get the kit next is rims then slam it

why would cops hassle you? Is N2O illegal somewhere? Fill me in, cuz I seriously thought it was perfectly legal.

its legal to have but you cannot have the bottle hooked up to the system while driving on public roads.

Wow, so it's kinda like "it's OK to own a bazooka, as long as you don't put a shell in it" kinda thing...

Is that a federal law, or does it vary by state?

Pretty sure its illegal everywhere. Though you hear a lot of max stories about people using it for every day racing

Bit too dangerous in my opinion.....

I vote for the body kit, or all the bolt on's (if you're missing any).

If I were going to spend $1000 on your car now, I'd go with a Stillen RSB, PR poly engine mounts, and a Greddy cat-back exhaust system. A body kit would look nice, but I like GO better than SHOW. N2O would be sweet, too, but I'd finish up with the basic bolt-ons first.

Installed properly, nitrous isn't hard on an engine. Nitrous is used only in short bursts, while turbos/superchargers boost all the time. Rules/Laws governing the use of nitrous vary from state to state, but it's best used on the track only. If you use it on the street, legal or not, you're going to attract attention from the police. A good N2O system with gauges and accessories could easily run $2000, including professional installation. Systems bought on the cheap from a guy your cousin knows and installed by your sister's boyfriend (who saw a system installed once-- 2 years ago!) are usually the ones that fry pistons... When it comes to nitrous, spend the "extra nickel" for a safe, quality installation. No shortcuts! Good luck.

That would basically be +1000 dollars for a little better handling and 10hp.

I'm really leaning towards the bodykit, because besides the combo of Y-Pipe and CAI, the bolt-ons for our cars don't seem to do very much.

That is very true, I have actually been dissapointed with all of my bolt ons. I mean i didnt feel much from intake or cat-back and thought I would feel a lot from my y-pipe but didnt notice a HUGE difference, but did notice a gain in power. I would say go for something big now like you are saying ie body kit or NOS or maybe save up 2K more and buy the SC. You dont have to spend the money now you know.lol Take Care

good point, you can do the VB mod and still have enough to buy half of the kit.

Oh yeah!

Forgot about the VB Mod!

How much is the core charge on it anyway? How backed up is Don? I heard he had issues with people not sending back their cores, and therefore could not ship new ones out.

What's the wait?

OKOK....I'l do a search and find out myself...

Are Stillen and Custommaxima.com the only places to get body kits? both are rather pricey, so does anyone sell body kits for Maximas that are not as expensive as these two? Thanks in advance.

Ummm.

You're post whoring on my thread...stop it.

Seriously, there will be several more bodykits out this sumer. I know Shadow is working on one, and some other people are too.

That's why I may just get the VB Mod and get the bodykit later this year, the more I think about it.

I think Nitrous probably would be too much trouble, as my ride is a diaily driver.

So to answer my own question, I think I'll go with a VB Mod and later this year a body kit.

If you told us what it was you were babbling about and actually told us what your intake did, maybe we'd talk about it.

So what is it? Were you just being sarcastic?

I think I'll wait until a full write-up from Matt is available. Looks like you have to buy alot of extra parts to do the VI Mod.

Although it would be cool to be the first NA Max with the VI, wouldn't it?

I don't hate you.
I just didn't know about it yet.

In your original post, I thought you said it cost $200.

Why $650 now?

I'm sure I can find it from some of my friends overseas cheaper.

LOL, Good thing I reminded you about the VB huh? Don is very backed up on the core exanges but if you over night him your VB on lets say a monday and he gets it tuesday, he will modify it that day and send it back to you overnight so you will get your VB back on Wed. So you only have 2-3 days downtime. Im sending mine off in a few days. good luck, Take Care

Unless I'm missing something, it's maybe just a few hoses & t-fittings. Not a lot of "extra parts," that I'm aware of.

All-in-all, indications are that this is the best horsepower bang-for-$buck$ bolt-on available for the 4th Gens.

(Yes, it would be VERY cool to be the 1st N/A with this intake - I'm eagerly awaiting someone's report on this)!

I'd love to get it, but all my $ went into suspension & wheels recently.

Anyway, I'm way O/T, here. Sorry - good luck w/ whatever you choose!

He originally wanted $200 for this part (Road Beast), now he wants $650!?
I want to know why that is....in a previous post he said:

"If anyone intrested in my intake again please let me know and about the switch this is a lot of work to do I think that my offer is the best about 200 USD and I garranty you that this will work fine as mine and if it didn't work I will return your full amount and I think that you know that I'm a honest person and as I told you the intake does work fine and it does .. "

I'm sure I can get it myself from foreign friends for far less than $650.

(So please explain, Road Beast)
