when drag racing, which is faster? is pushing the gas very quickly all the way making the wheels spin out for a second or two faster than slowly tapping the gas all the way (which won't peel out)????

Anytime you have wheel spin you are not moving forward as fast as you can, i.e. acceleration, therefore wheel spin is not good for the launch and so not good for racing.

On cars with street tires, especially ones with better high rpm ability, a little spin is preferable to a bog or even "walking" it off the line. You need to get into your powerband as quickly as possible. A little spin helps this but don't let it get away from you. Too much spin and you might as well let off and wait till next time. It's over.

On the street if I floor it off the line ill get a bunch of wheelspin but at the track it is sticky enough that if I floor it ill just take off with little to know wheel spin. Under good conditions anyway. Take Care
