Those with EGTs

I was looking over the manual and the front exhaust manifold doesn't look too easy to get to in order to mount the probe.

Can anyone give pointers to the exact location and orientation of the probe mount? I think I need to get a 1/8" PT tap (I assume it is the same as 1/8 NPT, right?)

TIA

It was easy to tap the APEXi temp probe into the front manifold. Just pull the heat shield off and drill into the manifold from the top. With a good drill bit and some patience it can be done easily. As for thread, maybe 1/8, but I forget.

So are you monitoring just one cylinder or did you tap into the 'collector' where the 3 meet? I guess I'll have to take that intake tube off behind the radiator... I was hoping I could do this from underneath. Thanks!

I have it where the three collect together. The best way is to monitor the back drivers side cylinder , #5, because it usually runs the leanest

my apexi is probe is mounted right below the front manifold on my custom downpipe. Matt is right about #5 cylinder being the best cause its last on the fuel rail and sometimes runs leaner then other cylinders.

Thanks guys!

I'll try to see if I can get it on the rear back then if I can get my drill up there.

I still haven't figured out how to mount my 60mm OMORI EGT gauge itself... Well, one step at a time.
