Cat Back Exhaust System Resonance

Fellow Org Members: I am attempting to determine my best course of action in quieting down a Stillen Cat back mod I had them install on my 4th gen Maxi. Mod consist of "B" pipe w/ rear SST Muffler. Stock resonator was eliminated. Exhaust sound is pleasant outside the car...but inside the cabin at 2K RPM to about 2,7K RPM the droning resonation is getting my nerves up.

Short of having the stock resonator re-installed on the "B" between cat and muffler is there anything more I can do. Has anyone had this problem? I have heard that there is a device which can be attached to the "B" known as a "Harmonic Balancer" which eliminates the drone frequency at these critical RPMs. I have peformed a search, but no luck.

Let me know what you think.

Thanks.

Get a perforated core resonator installed in the B-pipe, the longest one that will fit. That will solve the problem.

You may also ask them to check if they welded the bracket to the car underside. When they installed the b pipe and took out the resonator, they have to custom make a new bracket; if they weld this bracket to the underside of the car directly (don't ask me how, but it happened to me) it will drone inside the cabin something fierce. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks to you also Jamie....I'll do quick visual inspection but I believe I'm suspended on rubber hangers. The bracket, if present will certainly transmit the vibration into the cabin.

22" 2.5" Perforated Magnaflow resonator... It'll help quite it down... You should be able to put it after the catalytic.

Part #: 10436
