Can any of you guyz tell me if it is safe to take off the intake manifold polish it and then put itback on in in your own garage...or do you need some kind of special treatment when you put it back on?

if you don't polish the inside you should be able to do it in your garage, if you are porting it you want to make sure there is no metal residue/shards in the intake tract.
