possibly my brakes...?

My max still has original factory brakes (i.e. pads, disc, etc.). i presently turned over 71000 on my 97 max gle and i still have no problems with my brakes; however, i notice when i do brake it is pulling to the right.

anybody know of a good website where i can get FAQ on possible break problems or can anyone share a few pointers of what is causing this problem? i just recently put a new 17 inch wheel/tire pkg and the wider wheel is very responsive but i notice the pull to the right when braking.

please advise...?

life-long max enthusiest.

Don't automatically assume brakes. It could be something as simple as uneven tire pressure. If your pressure's lower in the right front tire than the left, your car will pull to the right under braking.

It could also be alignment. Start w/ a tire pressure check.

can it really be tire pressure if it only happens when he brakes? ..

I don't know anything about it "only" happening when he brakes - he didn't describe anything else. A slight difference in tire pressure left vs. right is enough to greatly exaggerate pull to one side under braking, (especially heavy braking) that may not be noticeable, or as noticeable during normal driving.

Just trying to offer a simple starting point.

Diagnostic logic: don't assume anything & begin with the easiest, most economical potential problems on the checklist. Eliminate possible culprits in that order. (Hopefully he finds a cheap problem!)
